Jeuveau
Since Jeuveau has only been on the market for a short time, the FDA has only approved Jeuveau for the treatment of glabellar lines. However, other locations on the face and body can be treated with Jeuveau, but this is considered off-label use.
Before being treated with Jeuveau for frown lines, consult with your injector. At the consultation it will be determined how many injections you need a well as which specific areas of your face to treat. Jeuveau doesn’t require downtime, but if you so desire, and to feel more comfortable, you can take the day off. The entire process takes about 15 minutes for the injections and another 30 minutes for a numbing cream to take effect.
As the botulinum begins to work, underlying muscles relax and create a smoother appearance in frown lines. You may notice effects right away, but full results develop in in about a week. Your injector will advise you to avoid rubbing the site of the injections, so the active ingredients don’t spread.
Jeuveau will naturally wear off after several weeks to months. Schedule a new round of injections to maintain the results but wait three months between each treatment.
Jeuveau is considered safe, but it does have risks. Common side effects may include:
- Bruising
- Redness
- Pain
- Headaches
These side effects quickly subside but you may also have droopy eyelids or upper respiratory infections. Contact your provider if you experience serious side effects.
